Billie Eilish's 'Everything I Wanted'
Billie Eilish takes it to the next level and shows off her honed directing skills in her music video for “Everything I Wanted,” released on Thursday, January 23rd.
“I believe it’s super cool how Billie self-directed her own music video. It came out super good, and you can feel the message she’s trying to say through it,” said senior Isabel Frondarina.
Eilish has dedicated her video to her brother, Finneas, who has recently been collaborating with her projects. He makes an appearance in the video as well. He sits in the passenger seat of a sleek black car as Billie drives throughout the night. Right within the opening remark, the 18-year-old singer-director writes, "Finneas is my brother and my best friend. No matter the circumstance, we always have and always will be there for each other."
One of the most touching visuals in the video comes at the 3-minute mark, when the two hold hands while the vehicle further submerges into the profound and dull sea to additionally represent a "us against the world" scene.
“I love how you can tell how close Billie and her brother are to each other. You would really want something like that with a sibling,” said senior Brooke Wesseling.
"My brother and I wrote this song about each other and I wanted to create a visual that emphasizes that no matter what, we’ll be there for each other through everything.” she said in a press release. “This is the second video I’ve directed of mine. We worked so hard, for hours and hours on end. I love it, I hope you do too,” Eilish states to Billboard. The video now stands at 29 million views on Youtube.
