Pennies for Patients
By: Alissa Manzo
Pennies for Patients is a widely known organization known for their belief in connecting schools with local blood cancer patients. Pennies for Patients is a science-based, service learning program for K-12 students. They provide tangible life skills to participants, and allows students to see the impact they’re making in the lives of others. Recently pennies for Patients have connected with our very own school, so our Bulldogs could contribute to the good cause.
Pennies for Patients specifically raises funds in support of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). LLS exists to find cures and ensure access to treatments for blood cancer patients. Their main focus is to ensure all patients and families have a quality life. Money raised through Pennies for Patients gets invested in cancer research, patient education, support services, and advocacy efforts aimed at making treatments more accessible and affordable for families. More than $66 million has been raised through the Leukemia Cup Regatta series for lifesaving research and patient services since its start more than 30 years ago.
Bulldogs should seize this opportunity on continuing the success of this organization and supporting their goals.
