No More Sleep!

      Students are going to need to fix their sleep schedule again for daylight saving time is coming up! Daylight saving time 2020 in California will begin at 2:00 AM on Sunday, March 8th and end at 2:00 AM on Sunday, November 1st Pacific Time. This means that everyone in California will have to set their clocks one hour forward to “spring ahead.” 

      “I’m not really excited for changing my clocks one hour ahead, because I can’t sleep longer anymore,” senior Jacqlyn Pi said. 

      The people living in California have been upset with the time change every 7 to 8 months because it affects their sleep schedule.

      “This system affects my sleep schedule but I do like getting out of school one hour earlier now,” junior Jack Zheng said.

      Daylight savings was created so the ancient civilizations can adjust daily schedules to the sun more flexibly. Doing this divided daylight into 12 hours regardless of daytime so that each daylight hour became progressively longer during spring and shorter during autumn. Not only does it affect sleep patterns, it complicates timekeeping and can disrupt travel, billing, record keeping, medical devices, and heavy equipment.

      “I think it’s good that we’re changing our clocks to one hour ahead because I think the day will go by faster now,” freshman Jamie Yow said.

    Now that we are going to have to change our clocks one hour ahead of time, Californians wonder if we'll ever stop with this daylight saving system. Don’t forget to change your clocks one hour FORWARD on Sunday, March 8th at 2:00 AM!
