Upcoming 2020 Movies

     By: Fiza Khan

Although, as a year, 2020 has had a rough and almost controversial start, there are many exciting things coming in the world of entertainment and pop culture. With a variety of movies with all-star casts and interesting plot ideas, these movies being released will define the beginning of the new decade and definitely break records.

To begin, the first and nearest movie being released is Birds of Prey, which will be released February 7th. This movie, by DC and Warner Brothers, will have Harley Quinn, played by Margot Robbie, as the main character, starring with Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Huntress and Black Canary respectively.

Next is The Invisible Man with a release date of February 28th. It is a part of the Dark Universe, Universal Picture’s focus on creating a franchise that reincarnates the classic monsters and villains. The movie centers on an optics scientist who accidentally performs a procedure that makes himself invisible. The film is based on the 1933 classic with Claude Rains as a mad scientist who uses invisibility to take over the world.

To be released on March 20th, A Quiet Place 2 is next with writer/director John Krasinski being a part of it. This sequel will focus on new families and their ability to survive the horrors of a post-apocalyptic world.

Mulan will be released March 27th and is part of Disney’s adaptation series to turn animated films into live action features. The actress, for whom Disney a year of searching, is Liu Yifei or Crystal Liu, who is believed to be a great fit as a new Disney warrior princess.

After several development setbacks, including Daniel Craig's uncertain return to the franchise following 2015's Spectre, the latest Bond film, No Time to Die, is finally scheduled for wide release on April 8th.

Black Widow will be released May 1. Chronologically, Black Widow will take place between the film Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War. As far as plot goes, specific details are still being kept under wraps, but according to its cast, the film is going to be something of a departure from other Marvel properties.

On May 8, Legally Blonde 3 will be released. Nearly two decades after we first saw charming, idealistic law student Elle Woods demonstrate the perfect bend and snap, Reese Witherspoon is set to reprise one of the biggest roles of her career with Legally Blonde 3. According to Deadline, Witherspoon won't be the only familiar face returning for the threequel — it seems most of the original film's creative team has signed on as well.

Overall, there are many great movies to look forward to, so get those tickets as fast as you can!
